Scholarships
The Epsilon Beta Lambda Chapter Foundation awards annual academic scholarships to high school seniors and current college freshmen. Promoting academic excellence is part of the mission of Alpha Phi Alpha; paying for it is how this chapter does that.
The Chapter’s Memorial Awards
The Robert J. Stevenson Memorial Award for high school seniors, and the David L. Dillard Memorial Award for college freshmen. One application covers both.
Who May Apply
- Must attend high school in Bibb or Jones County.
- Must be a high school senior, or a college freshman for the Dillard award, with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher.
What to Submit
- An official transcript.
- SAT or ACT scores if taken and if desired. Otherwise, an academic essay — and do not plagiarize.
- One letter of recommendation, from a teacher, counselor, principal, or APA ETS staff.
- A personal statement of no fewer than 500 words on the topic provided.
- Participation in the interview round if selected.
The Scholarship Committee scores and ranks every completed application. The top ten finalists are contacted for interviews, and one winner is selected for each award.
Applications open and close in the spring. Both awards run on that cycle, and the form goes up when it opens.
The MidSouth Community Federal Credit Union Award
MidSouth Community Federal Credit Union has partnered with the chapter to offer an annual scholarship of $2,000, disbursed in four annual installments of $500. It is support that lasts the length of a degree rather than one semester.
Who May Apply
- Must be a high school senior attending school in Baldwin, Bibb, or Houston County.
- Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Must be planning to attend a college, university or technical school in the fall.
In partnership with
$2,000, paid as four annual installments of $500, across Baldwin, Bibb and Houston counties.
The MidSouth award runs on the same cycle, and opens and closes with it.
What It Looks Like When It Lands
The chapter awarded $10,000 in scholarships across a single recent year, having raised the value of its standing awards and created two new ones. Every graduating Alpha Esquire receives scholarship support.

The chapter's scholarships are presented in the spring, alongside recognition of the graduating Alpha Esquires.
